Impact Coatings AB (Sverige) och Hyundai Motor Company (Sydkorea) har tecknat ett gemensamt utvecklingsavtal för att samarbeta i utvecklingen av beläggningsteknologi för bipolära flödesplattor av metall, en nyckelkomponent för vätgasdrivna bränslecellsfordon.

Impact Coatings är en ledande leverantör av PVD-baserade beläggningslösningar för bränsleceller, med ett produkterbjudande som består av beläggningsmaterial, maskiner och tjänster. Globala fordonsproducenter och leverantörer, liksom andra företag som är aktiva inom utvecklingen av vätgasdriven energi, förlitar sig på Impact Coatings gällande innovation och expertis relaterad till högpresterande beläggningar av bränslecellplattor.

Hyundai är en av världens ledande biltillverkare och är i framkant gällande utveckling av bränslecellsfordon. I koncernen ingår Kia Motors Corporation, Hyundai Mobis och Hyundai Steel. Dess kommersiella verksamhet inom segmentet bränslecellsfordon inkluderar Hyundai NEXO SUV och, bland andra projekt, joint venture-projektet Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility i samarbete med H2 Energy (Schweiz), som omfattar en utrullning av 1 600 bränslecellsdrivna tunga lastbilar från 2019 till 2025.

Det gemensamma utvecklingsavtalet anger att företagen ska:

“… gemensamt forska kring och utveckla nya material, processer och utrustning för beläggningar för att applicera på bipolära flödesplattor inom en mängd olika applikationer, inklusive bränsleceller och/eller vätgasproduktion.”

Avtalet specificerar, bland andra parametrar, sedvanliga kommersiella villkor som rör omfattning av arbete, exklusivitet, behandling av immateriella rättigheter och försäljningsstöd. Avseende exklusivitet ska teknik som utvecklas gemensamt inom ramarna för det gemensamma utvecklingsavtalet vara exklusivt för de två parterna under en bestämd tidsperiod. Som en del av avtalet kommer Impact Coatings att åta sig att etablera fysisk närvaro i Sydkorea för att påskynda det gemensamma utvecklingsinitiativet.

Impact Coatings AB (Sweden) and Hyundai Motor Company (South Korea) have entered into a joint development agreement regarding cooperation in the development of coating technology for metal bipolar plates, a key component of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles.

Impact Coatings is a leading supplier of PVD-based coating solutions for fuel cells, offering coating materials, machines, and services. Global automotive producers and suppliers, as well as other companies active in the hydrogen energy evolution, rely upon Impact Coatings for innovation and expertise related to high-performance coatings of fuel cell plates.

Hyundai is one of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers and is at the forefront of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle development. The group includes Kia Motors Corporation, Hyundai Mobis, and Hyundai Steel. Its commercial activities in the hydrogen fuel cell segment include the Hyundai NEXO SUV and, among other projects, the joint venture Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility in collaboration with H2 Energy (Switzerland), which encompasses a roll-out of 1,600 fuel-cell powered heavy duty trucks from 2019 to 2025.

The joint development agreement states that the companies will:

“… jointly research and develop novel materials, processes and equipment for coatings for applying it into bipolar plates for a variety of applications including fuel cells and/or hydrogen production.”

The agreement specifies, among other parameters, customary commercial terms and conditions pertaining to scope of work, exclusivity, treatment of intellectual property rights, and sales support. With regard to exclusivity, jointly developed technology within the JDA framework will be treated as exclusive to the two parties for a set period of time. As part of the agreement, Impact Coatings will undertake to establish a physical presence in South Korea to help expedite the joint development initiative.

IMPACT COATINGS AB - INTERIM REPORT JULY-SEPTEMBER 2018
The preliminary findings of an independent investigation into expenses reimbursed to co-founder and former CEO Henrik Ljungcrantz were disclosed via press release on July 24, 2018. The final report from PwC has now confirmed these preliminary findings.

The board of directors, in line with what was stated in the July 24 press release, has submitted the investigation report to the Swedish Economic Crime Authority for further processing, and will seek to recover the reimbursed expenses identified by the investigation as incorrectly paid out plus costs for the investigation itself.
